TiviMate Setup on Firestick β Full Guide (2026)
TiviMate Setup on Firestick β Full Guide (2026)
TiviMate is consistently ranked as the best IPTV player for Amazon Firestick β smoother UI than IPTV Smarters, better EPG handling, and more stable on lower-powered sticks. The catch is that the install process is not as simple as downloading from the Appstore. This guide takes you from a fresh Firestick to a fully working TiviMate setup.
What You Need Before You Start
- Amazon Firestick (any model β 4K Max recommended for 4K streams)
- Your IPTV provider's M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials
- A stable internet connection (25 Mbps+ for 4K, 10 Mbps for HD)
- A free account at troypoint.com (used to sideload TiviMate via Downloader)
TiviMate is not on the Amazon Appstore, so you install it via the Downloader app. This is sideloading β it is legal and safe.
Step 1 β Enable Apps from Unknown Sources
Go to Settings β My Fire TV β Developer Options and turn on Install Unknown Apps. If you see "Apps from Unknown Sources" instead of Developer Options, enable that toggle.
This setting must be on before you can install TiviMate.
Step 2 β Install the Downloader App
Search "Downloader" in the Firestick Appstore and install the orange Downloader app by AFTVnews. It is free. Open it once to accept permissions, then close it.
Step 3 β Download TiviMate via Downloader
Open Downloader and enter this URL in the address bar: https://troypoint.com/tivimate
This takes you to the TiviMate install page. Scroll down and tap the direct APK download link. Downloader will download the APK (about 30 MB) and automatically prompt you to install it. Tap Install, then Done (not Open β you need to launch it from Apps).
Step 4 β Open TiviMate and Add Your Playlist
Find TiviMate in Apps β See All Installed Apps (you may need to scroll right). Open it.
If your provider gave you an M3U URL: 1. Tap "Add Playlist" 2. Select "M3U Playlist" 3. Paste your M3U URL 4. Tap "Next" β TiviMate will parse the playlist (takes 30β120 seconds depending on channel count)
If your provider gave you Xtream Codes credentials (server URL + username + password): 1. Tap "Add Playlist" 2. Select "Xtream Codes / Portal" 3. Enter server URL (without trailing slash), username, and password 4. Tap "Next"
Xtream Codes login loads faster and supports catch-up TV if your provider offers it. Use it if your provider gave you those credentials.
Step 5 β Set Up the EPG (TV Guide)
TiviMate auto-detects EPG from Xtream Codes playlists. For M3U playlists, you may need to add the EPG URL separately:
Go to Settings β Playlist β EPG URL and paste your provider's EPG/XMLTV URL. If your provider does not supply one, TiviMate will often populate a basic guide from the channel names.
The EPG refreshes every 24 hours. If the guide shows "No data," tap Settings β Playlist β Update EPG to force a refresh.
Step 6 β Test Your Setup
Navigate to Live TV and open any channel. Channels should start playing within 2β4 seconds. Test a few sports channels and a movie channel to confirm different stream types work.
If a channel fails to load, it is usually a stream issue on your provider's side (specific channels can go down). If most channels fail, the problem is your M3U URL or credentials.
TiviMate Premium β Is It Worth It?
The free version of TiviMate is fully functional for watching live TV and VOD. TiviMate Premium (about $5/year via the companion app) adds:
- Multiple playlists (more than one IPTV subscription)
- Recordings (requires external storage)
- Parental controls and advanced filters
- Catch-up TV controls
For a single subscription, the free version is enough. If you have multiple accounts or want to record content, Premium pays for itself.
Common TiviMate Problems and Fixes
TiviMate crashes on launch: Go to Firestick Settings β Applications β Manage Installed Applications β TiviMate β Clear Cache and Clear Data. Relaunch the app and re-add your playlist.
Channels buffer but internet is fine: Change the stream format. In TiviMate Settings β Player β choose "Software (FFmpeg)" instead of the default player. This fixes compatibility issues with some stream formats.
EPG not loading: Check that your provider's EPG URL is active (paste it in a browser β it should return an XML file). If the URL is correct but EPG still fails, try updating the EPG manually from TiviMate Settings.
M3U playlist not updating channels: TiviMate caches the playlist. Force a refresh via Settings β Playlists β [your playlist] β Update Now.
TiviMate not found after install: After sideloading, apps appear under "Apps β See All Installed Apps" not on the home screen automatically. Pin it to your home screen for faster access.
TiviMate vs IPTV Smarters Pro on Firestick
TiviMate loads channel lists faster, handles large playlists (40,000+ channels) without slowdown, and has a cleaner UI. IPTV Smarters Pro is easier to set up for first-timers because it walks you through a guided form. If you have never used IPTV before, start with Smarters and switch to TiviMate once you are comfortable with how IPTV works.
