How to Install IPTV on Samsung Smart TV

Set up IPTV on a Samsung Smart TV by installing an app from the Smart Hub and activating it with your personal MAC address and LumIPTV playlist link.

Samsung Smart TVs run the Tizen operating system, which does not allow sideloading apps the way Android does. Instead, you install dedicated IPTV apps directly from Samsung's Smart Hub store. The two most reliable options are Smart IPTV and SS IPTV β€” both support M3U playlists and are free to download. Smart IPTV requires a one-time $5.49 activation payment after a seven-day trial, while SS IPTV is completely free. This guide uses Smart IPTV because of its better picture quality settings, but the SS IPTV steps are nearly identical.

Step-by-Step Guide

1
Open Smart Hub on Your Samsung TV

Press the Home button on your Samsung remote (the house icon). This opens the Smart Hub launcher bar at the bottom of the screen. Make sure your TV is connected to your home network β€” check the network indicator in the top-right corner of Smart Hub. If it shows a red X, go to Settings β†’ General β†’ Network β†’ Network Status and reconnect Wi-Fi or check your LAN cable.

2
Search for Smart IPTV

In the Smart Hub bar, navigate left to the Search icon (magnifier) and press Select. Type "Smart IPTV" using the on-screen keyboard. The Smart IPTV app by Metrological will appear in the results β€” it has an orange TV icon. If you do not see it, try "SS IPTV" as an alternative. Select the app and press Install.

3
Note Your TV's MAC Address

Open the Smart IPTV app after installation. On the first launch it will display a welcome screen with your TV's MAC address (a series like AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF). Write this down or take a photo with your phone β€” you will need it in the next step. The app will show a message that no playlist is loaded yet.

4
Add Your M3U Playlist via the Web Portal

On your phone or computer, open a browser and go to siptv.eu/mylist. Enter your TV's MAC address in the field provided, then paste your LumIPTV M3U URL in the "URL" field (from your welcome email). Click Save. This links your playlist to your TV without typing long URLs on the TV keyboard.

5
Reload the Playlist on the TV

Back on the TV, press the red button on your Samsung remote, or navigate to the Settings option inside the Smart IPTV app and select Reload Playlist. The app will contact LumIPTV's servers and download your full channel list. This initial sync can take up to 90 seconds for large channel libraries.

6
Navigate to Live Channels

Once the sync completes, your screen will fill with channel tiles organized by category. Use the directional pad on your remote to browse. Press the OK button to play any channel. Use the colored buttons at the bottom of the screen to switch between Live TV, Movies, and Series.

7
Adjust Picture Quality Settings

If channels appear soft or oversaturated, press the Settings gear in the app and choose Video Output. Set it to match your TV's native resolution (1080p for Full HD, 2160p for 4K). You can also enable hardware decoding here for smoother playback on 4K channels.

Why can't I find Smart IPTV in the Samsung Smart Hub store?
Smart IPTV availability varies by region and TV firmware version. TVs made before 2016 may not support it. If it does not appear, try SS IPTV or install Smart TV Player instead. All three work with LumIPTV M3U links and use the same MAC-address activation method.
Do I have to pay for Smart IPTV?
Smart IPTV offers a 7-day free trial. After that, a one-time $5.49 activation fee unlocks the app permanently on your TV. SS IPTV is a completely free alternative with similar features and no activation fee.
My Samsung TV is from 2014 β€” will IPTV work?
Older Samsung TVs with the Smart Hub may not support current IPTV apps. A workaround is to connect a Firestick, Android TV box, or Chromecast with Google TV to an HDMI port on your Samsung β€” these devices handle the IPTV app natively and give you a better experience.
Why do channels keep freezing on my Samsung TV?
Freezing is usually a network issue. Samsung TVs sometimes have slower Wi-Fi chips than streaming sticks. Connect via a wired LAN cable if possible β€” it virtually eliminates buffering. Also go to Settings β†’ General β†’ Network and disable Automatic DNS, then set DNS to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) for faster lookup times.
Can I install a different IPTV app like TiviMate on Samsung?
TiviMate is an Android app and cannot be installed on Tizen-based Samsung TVs directly. If you want TiviMate, connect an Amazon Firestick or Android TV box (such as NVIDIA SHIELD or a budget box) via HDMI and install TiviMate there.
