How to Install IPTV on Android TV

Install an IPTV player directly from Google Play on any Android TV or Google TV device, then log in with your LumIPTV credentials and start streaming.

Android TV and Google TV devices have a major advantage over Samsung and LG Smart TVs: they run Android, so you can install any IPTV app directly from the Google Play Store — no sideloading required. The process is the same as installing any app on a phone. Popular choices include IPTV Smarters Pro (free), TiviMate (free with optional premium upgrade), and Kodi with the IPTV Simple Client add-on. This guide covers IPTV Smarters Pro as it is the fastest to configure with LumIPTV credentials.

Step-by-Step Guide

1
Sign In to Your Google Account

From your Android TV home screen, navigate to Settings (gear icon at the top right) → Accounts & Sign In. If you are not already signed in, select Add Account and follow the prompts to sign into your Google account. This is required to access the Google Play Store.

2
Open Google Play Store

Return to the home screen. Find the Google Play Store app (colorful triangle icon) in the apps row and press Select. On devices with Google TV (like Chromecast with Google TV), use the search button at the top or the dedicated Search chip.

3
Search for IPTV Smarters Pro

Inside the Play Store, select the Search bar and type "IPTV Smarters Pro." The app by Whmcs Smarters will appear — it has a red icon with a play arrow. Select it and press Install. The app is free and installs directly without any special permissions. TiviMate is an equally good alternative — search "TiviMate IPTV Player" if you prefer its guide-style interface.

4
Open IPTV Smarters Pro and Choose Login Method

Launch IPTV Smarters Pro. On the welcome screen you will see three options: "Login with Xtream Codes API," "Login with M3U URL," and "Load Your Playlist / File." If your LumIPTV welcome email contains a server URL, username, and password, choose Xtream Codes API. If it contains only an M3U link (a URL ending in .m3u or .m3u8), choose M3U URL.

5
Enter Your LumIPTV Credentials

For Xtream Codes: Enter a Profile Name (e.g., "LumIPTV"), then paste the Server URL, Username, and Password from your welcome email exactly as provided — these are case-sensitive. Press Add User. For M3U: Enter a Profile Name, paste the M3U URL, and press Add User. The app will contact the server and verify your subscription before proceeding.

6
Wait for Channel Sync

After logging in, IPTV Smarters will sync your full channel and VOD library. The progress bar shows "Loading live streams," "Loading VOD," and "Loading series" in sequence. This first sync takes 30–90 seconds. Future launches use a cached version and open nearly instantly.

7
Browse and Play Content

You will see tabs at the bottom of the screen: Live TV, Movies, Series, and Catch Up (if available). Navigate to Live TV, choose a category (such as Sports or News), and select a channel to start playback. Use the back button on your remote to return to the channel list. Press OK on a playing channel to see options like stream quality, audio track, and subtitles.

Does IPTV Smarters work on a Chromecast with Google TV?
Yes. Chromecast with Google TV runs Android TV OS, so IPTV Smarters Pro installs directly from Google Play. The 4K Chromecast with Google TV handles 4K IPTV streams without issue. Just make sure it is connected to 5GHz Wi-Fi or via an HDMI-to-Ethernet adapter for the most stable streams.
What is the difference between Android TV and Google TV?
Google TV is the newer interface layer built on top of Android TV OS. Both run the same underlying Android TV platform and support the same apps from Google Play. For IPTV purposes they are identical — all IPTV apps that work on Android TV also work on Google TV.
TiviMate shows "Failed to load playlist" after I enter my M3U URL. What is wrong?
Double-check that you copied the full M3U URL including any query parameters (it may end with ?username=...&password=...&type=m3u_plus). Also ensure your subscription is active — expired trials reject connections. If the URL is correct and the subscription is active, contact LumIPTV support to regenerate your link.
Can I use IPTV on a non-Android Sony TV?
Sony TVs made from 2015 onward run Android TV, so Google Play is available natively. Older Sony TVs use a proprietary OS (BRAVIA Smart TV) without Google Play — connect a Firestick or Android box via HDMI in that case.
How many devices can I use with one LumIPTV subscription?
The number of simultaneous connections depends on the plan you chose. Most LumIPTV plans support 1–2 simultaneous streams. You can install the player on as many devices as you want, but streaming at the same time beyond your connection limit will result in one stream stopping.
