How to Install IPTV on Firestick

Get IPTV running on your Amazon Firestick in about 10 minutes using the free Downloader app — no PC required.

Amazon Firestick is the most popular IPTV device because it supports sideloading — installing apps that are not in the Amazon Appstore. The process takes two steps: unlock Developer Options so Firestick permits external installs, then use the free Downloader app to fetch and install an IPTV player. Once the player is installed, you enter your LumIPTV credentials and start watching within minutes.

Step-by-Step Guide

1
Enable Apps from Unknown Sources

On your Firestick home screen, navigate to the gear icon at the top right and select Settings. Scroll right to My Fire TV (or Device on older sticks), then choose Developer Options. Toggle "Apps from Unknown Sources" to ON — a warning dialog will appear, select Turn On to confirm. This setting allows you to install apps outside the Amazon Appstore.

2
Install the Downloader App

Return to the Firestick home screen. Press the Search (magnifier) icon at the top, type "Downloader", and select it from the suggestions. On the app page, press Get or Download. The Downloader app by AFTVnews installs in under 30 seconds. Open it once installation completes and accept any permissions it requests.

3
Download Your IPTV Player

Inside Downloader, tap the URL field at the top. Type the direct APK download address for your preferred IPTV player — for example, use the official IPTV Smarters Pro APK URL provided by LumIPTV support when you subscribe. Press Go. Downloader will fetch the file and show a progress bar. When it finishes, tap Install.

4
Install the APK

After tapping Install you will see the Android installer screen listing the permissions the app requires. Scroll down and press Install. The install process takes 10–20 seconds. When it says "App installed," press Open to launch it immediately, or Done to return to Downloader. You can delete the APK file when prompted to save storage — tap Delete.

5
Enter Your LumIPTV Credentials

Open the newly installed IPTV player. On the login or Add Playlist screen, choose Xtream Codes API if your player supports it. Enter the Server URL, Username, and Password exactly as provided in your LumIPTV welcome email. Alternatively, select M3U URL and paste your personal M3U link from the email. Tap Load or Add Playlist.

6
Wait for Channel List to Load

The app will connect to LumIPTV's servers and download your channel list. Depending on your internet speed, this first sync takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes. You will see a progress spinner followed by your channel categories (Live TV, Movies, Series). This sync only happens once — subsequent opens are near-instant.

7
Browse and Play a Channel

Navigate to Live TV and select a category such as Sports or Entertainment. Choose any channel and press OK or Select on your remote. The stream should begin within 2–3 seconds. If a channel shows a loading spinner for more than 10 seconds, try another channel first — a single channel can occasionally be under maintenance while the rest work perfectly.

Why does Firestick say "For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps"?
This message appears when Developer Options are not yet enabled, or if the Downloader app itself needs permission. Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options and make sure "Apps from Unknown Sources" is set to ON. If it is already on, open Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → scroll down to Downloader specifically and enable it for that app.
Which IPTV player works best on Firestick?
IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate are the two most popular players for Firestick. IPTV Smarters Pro is free and requires only your Xtream Codes or M3U credentials. TiviMate has a polished TV-style interface and a one-time premium unlock. Both work perfectly with LumIPTV.
Will IPTV slow down my Firestick?
No. IPTV players are lightweight apps. A Firestick 4K or Firestick 4K Max handles 4K IPTV streams easily. If you own an older first-generation Firestick, stick to HD streams (720p/1080p) for the smoothest experience.
Can I use a VPN with IPTV on Firestick?
Yes. Install a VPN app from the Amazon Appstore (ExpressVPN and NordVPN are both available there without sideloading), connect to a nearby server, then open your IPTV player. Using a VPN is entirely optional — LumIPTV works well without one for most users.
How do I update the IPTV player on Firestick?
Open Downloader again, enter the same APK URL you used for installation, and download it again. When the installer appears it will say "Update" instead of "Install." Tap Update and your player will be upgraded while preserving your credentials and settings.
